Welcome to the White Rose Initiative web siteOn this pageAbout the White Rose InitiativeThe White Rose Initiative is a voluntary group which was set up in February 1991 with the aim of helping communities in need. We are based around the city of Leeds, West Yorkshire, in the United Kingdom but have members and supporters across the world. The aims of the Initiative are to provide material and financial help to communities in need, to foster and develop partnership and support schemes with these communities, and by doing so help them become self-directing in improving their situation. Currently the charity is engaged in providing assistance to the people of the town of Sighişoara in Romania. Thanks to the superb generosity of our supporters, we have provided many hundreds of thousands of pounds of aid to institutions in the town and elsewhere in Romania. We are a direct charity. Everyone involved provides their time free of charge and funds their own fare and expenses on any trip. This means every penny pledged to the charity goes to our work. The White Rose Initiative is a registered charity, number 1013290.
